చదువుకు, బ్రతుకుతెరువుకు లంకె తెగిపోయి, 45 ఏళ్ళ కనిష్ట స్థాయికి నిరుద్యోగిత చేరడంతో దేశంలోని అసంఖ్యాక యువత తీవ్ర నిరాశా నిస్పృహలకు లోనవుతున్నారు. దేశంలో వైట్ కాల క్రైం రేటు పెరగడానికి కూడా నిఉద్యోఒగమే కారణమని వివిధ అధ్యయన నివేదికలు తెలియజేస్తున్నాయి. ఒకప్పుడు ఇంజనీరింగ్ పట్టభద్రులంటే అపారమైన గౌరవం వుండేది, కాలక్రమేణా కళాశాలలు దేశవ్యాప్తంగా పెరిగిపోవడం, ఉద్యోగ అవకాశాలు గణనీయంగా తగ్గిపోవడం వలన ఇంజనీరింగ్ పట్టాకు సాధారణ డిగ్రీ కంటే విలువ తగ్గిపోవడం జరిగింది. ప్రతీ ఏడాది పది లక్షల వరకు ఇంజనీరింగ్ పట్టాలు అందిపుచ్చుకుంటున్నా వారిలో వారి అర్హత ప్రకారం 20 శాతం మందికి కూడా ఉద్యోగాలు లభించడం లేదు. మిగితా వారిలో 40 శాతం మంది ఏదో ఒక ఉద్యోగంతో సరిపెట్టుకుంటున్నారు కాగా 40 శాతం మంది పట్టభద్రులు నిరుద్యోగులుగానే మిగిలిపోతున్నారు. ఐ ఐ టి, బిట్స్ పిలాని, ఎన్ ఐ టి వంటి అగ్రశ్రేణి సంస్థలలో చదివినవారు మన దేశంలో సరైన ఉపాధి అవకాశాలు లేక విదెశాలకు తరలివెళిపోతున్నారు. ఇంజనీరింగ్ పట్టభద్రులలో నిరాశా నిస్పృహలను పోగొట్టేందుకు కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం 2015 సంవత్సరంలో స్కిల్ ఇండియా, ఇంటర్న్షిప్ పధకాలను ప్రవేశపెట్టినా అవి ఆశించిన మేరకు ఫలితాలను ఇవ్వల్లేకపోయాయి. 2016 ఆగష్టులో ప్రవేశపెట్టిన శ్టార్ట్ అప్ ( అంకుర పధకం) లో అత్యధికంగా అగ్రశ్రేణి విద్యా సంస్థలలోని విధ్యార్ధులే లబ్ది పొందుతున్నారు. ఇందుకు సరిపోయే నైపుణ్యాన్ని సామాన్య ఇంజనీరింగ్ విద్యా సంస్థలలోని విద్యార్ధులకు లభ్యమవడం లేదు. దేశంలో నాణ్యత లేకుండా స్థాపిస్తున్న ఇంజనీరింగ్ కళాశాలలపై చర్యలు తీసుకోవాలని ఎందరో నిపుణులు ఎప్పటినుండో చేస్తున్న విజ్ఞప్తులు అరణ్యరోదనగానే మిగిలిపోయాయి.కొన్ని కళాశాలలలో 10 శాతం కూడా సీట్లు నిండక అవి అంతిమంగా చాప చుట్టెయ్యడం నియ్తం మనం చూస్తున్నాం. అత్యధిక కళాశాలలలో సివిల్, మెకానికల్, ఎలక్ట్రానిక్స్, ఎలెక్టికల్ వంటి సబ్జెక్టులలో 30 శాతం పైగా సీట్లు మిగిలిపోతున్నాయి.
